Strainstall celebrates UK Wind Week 2020
To celebrate UK Wind Week 2020 (23 – 27 November), we would like to highlight some of the innovative floating offshore wind (FLOW) projects that our team has had the privilege of supporting.
Strainstall partners with First Subsea on world's largest floating offshore wind farm
Last year, we developed and delivered our patented strain ring technology to enable design optimisation and value engineering initiatives for the world’s largest floating offshore wind farm off the south coast of Aberdeen. Implemented by First Subsea onto their platform mooring connectors (PMCs), these provide critical data insights that help to optimise the safety and cost-efficiency of the project's WindFloat platforms.
Strainstall supports innovative Saitec floating wind prototype
We also collaborated with Saitec Offshore Technologies with its innovative BlueSATH prototype. Located off the coast of Santander, Spain, the pre-commercial platform uniquely uses single point mooring, which enables it to “weathervane” for increased wind exposure. Saitec turned to us to supply four bespoke load shackles to provide real-time load monitoring data for the project’s model verification operations.
Strainstall collaborates with MacGregor Pusnes for Hywind
Turning back the clock to 2017, we supplied our strain ring monitoring sensors for the landmark Hywind project – the world’s first floating offshore wind farm. Built to withstand the challenging offshore conditions of the North Sea, this turnkey solution integrated seamlessly into MacGregor Pusnes’s chain stoppers to sense minute changes in mooring load, while monitoring its effects on the primary load path.
These are just some of the leading FLOW projects that we have supported, and more exciting projects are soon to follow.
