Container weighing

Let Strainstall take the weight off your mind

As of the 1 July 2016 it is now a legal requirement for every export container to have a verified container weight as a condition for loading aboard a vessel.

The International Marine Organisation (IMO)'s amendments to the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) maritime treaty have been implemented as a measure to reducing the number of incidents caused by containers whose weights have been miscalculated or misdeclared.

The IMO provide two approved methods in determining the weight of a container:

  • Method one - weighing the loaded container
  • Method two - weighing the contents of the container and adding those weights to the containers tare weight

Strainstall's container weighing solutions

Strainstall has developed two container weighing solutions that will help all regulated parties within the container supply chain (shippers, carriers, terminal operators) achieve full compliance to the amended SOLAS regulations.

The Container Weight System (CWS)™ seamlessly integrates load monitoring technology onto existing container handling equipment to deliver accurate weight verification data as part of the regular lifting cycle within ports and terminals.

CWS™ has now successfully achieved full EU-type approval from the National Measurements and Regulatory Office.

CWS™ Portable is a lightweight, easy to use and fully transportable container weighing solution for the freight forwarding industry.
